Our Mission

Buckeyes for Harm Reduction is a grassroots student organization that aims to provide support to those affected by addiction and the opioid epidemic by advocating for harm reduction at the local, state, and national levels. Buckeyes for Harm Reduction engages with the campus community to provide students with harm reduction resources and empower them to advocate for comprehensive public health reforms that prevent overdoses and increase public well-being.

Who are we?

BHR takes a multifaceted approach to minimizing the risks posed by the opioid epidemic around campus and in the Greater Columbus Area. We aim to educate students about the risks of opioids, dispel common misunderstandings, and teach them how to help. We distribute resources like Narcan and fentanyl test strips to reduce the chance of overdose and save somebody’s life in the event of one. We advocate for policy change at local, state, and national levels that would help those affected by the opioid crisis. Lastly, we provide students with volunteering experiences to directly help those in need in and around Columbus.
